Day 15 - Brownsville

Things are looking up. Met with the broker this morning, he did not see an issue with what I wanted to take, on the basis that I am moving to Belize. At worst, I may have to pay Mexican duty on a few things, but that will be cheaper than trying to return to Alabama to ship them. Late this afternoon the broker and a coworker will return and go through everything to make a list in Spanish. So now I have to empty the truck out so I can reload it as they make the list.
A small price to pay.

Mikki and I read your posting last night but I was too tired to reply. I went and googled "tips on crossing the border into Mexico from the US" and started reading all the different sites. Wow! Lots and lots of advice, commentary, & warnings. Had no idea of the complexity of the necessary documents, identification, permits, fees, rules, and suggested sequence with or without a trailer attachment. Glad to hear your news is more positive today.

The delay should work to your advantage in the long run. I am sure you suspected there might be difficulties at the border that were unexpected and might set you back schedule wise. But yesterday's blog was very upsetting to us, and we read some dread and worry in between the lines.

Yesterday I devoted most of the morning to completing work on an argument for the Deering Center Community Garden proposal. Altho they did not need it for the meeting in the planning board conference room today, they incorporated some of the language and ideas into their proposal and were very grateful for my help.

Last night I went to hear Dame Gillian Weir play the Kotzschmar organ in a concert of both wonderfully strange pieces and programming. She grouped pieces together in pairs and trios by theme or by style of composition ie a pair of toccatas and a trio of works with angel in the title.
When I got home I went to UTUBE and listened for two hours to wonderful organ and piano pieces ie an amazing recording of Glenn Gould playing the same Brahms intermezzo that I used to play years ago opus 118 #2. Lastly I watched Torville and Dean win the olympic gold medal for ice dancing in 1984 to the music of Bolero by Ravel! Then before signing off I went back to the incredible video I have saved on Base Jumping from mountain tops in Norway with and without skiis wearing these flying skins. This is one of my favorite videos of all as it shows an activity I have always dreamed might be possible.

After my massage yesterday I dropped by Kinkos to do some xeroxing from 3 books (Katahdin related research) due back at Burbank this week and while there had them print the second version of my brother John's book "Dr Soccer". (which has grown from 115 pgs to 220 after the first lengthy critique from a well respected editor we as a family hired through Carl's connection to help John shape this young adult book into a publishable work).

Gotta close- Mikki wants me to watch a program with her. Hope all is well. We are thinking of you! Lots of hugs- Floydmonet

Lost my connection to you blog after I had read up to the broken axle. THought I could find it in my "View history" list, but didn't, maybe it is on my office PC.

Just got Rev.Tim to email it to me, sat down and read the "rest of the story", up to today.

Big challenges and some very good luck, and another business opportunity! What a book this will be!

I hope all goes well tomorrow.

It is great to see the pictures too. I haven't seen any of the places you describe beyond Atlanta.

Glad to hear you affirm the need for a church to feed the spirit. We in places of service/leadership sometimes forget what really brings us together. It isn't just to do the business that is necessary to keep the building and program going! I think that's an inherent problem of organizing any spiritual path. The organization becomes more important than the nurture and call of the spirit. At least it overshadows it until we are reminded by something like your message about the church you visited. Thank you.
